Events commemorate the 100th year since US joined Europe in 1917 in the Great War to End All Wars.
      
Veterans Day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities
      
between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918
      
Please plan to celebrate with us to honor the brave men and women who have given their services to
      
protect Freedom

    Brian Brooks (More), Dean of the School of Journalism, University of Missouri
      
    who will be speaking on his research and book about his Grandfather Robert Rabb Shedd,
      
    who served with distinction and medals in the famed 42nd Rainbow Division, Company C,
      
    117th Engineer Regiment.
      
    Sonya Hodges Grantham (More), historian and Columbia area civic leader, researched and installed
      
    the first historical marker in US to honor the 371st Infantry Regiment,93rd Division (Colored) of WWI.
      
    In her leadership capacity, she served in many roles in the Red Cross services at Ft. Jackson,
      
    and was founding member of the 371st Historical Society, and organizer/founder of several area
      
    events, author of several books, and restorer of the historic Childs Cemetery in Columbia.
      
    Jonathan Johnson (More), a native of Winnsboro, is a behavioral technician in child
      
    and adolescent psychology at USC and Project Coordinator for Columbia SC 63: Our Story Matters.
      
    His great grandfather served in World War I with the 371st Infantry Regiment.
      
    Frank Johnsons story had a tragic ending after he returned home from the war,
      
    suffering with the effects of a terrible war experience, common to many returning soldiers. 
      
    Fritz Hamer (More), Curator of History, SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum,
      
    has produced many major exhibits, books, and articles, and is well known in historical research circles.
      
    He will present information that he was has assembled in his book, Forward Together:
      
    South Carolinians in the Great War.
